Vadodara: Yusuf Pathan’s smashing 80-run innings off only 39 deliveries went in-vain as North Zone led by Virat Kohli beat West by 49 runs in the final of Deodhar Trophy at the Motibagh Palace ground Tuesday.

Put into bat, North scored 267 for nine in their stipulated 50 overs. The West led by Pathan’s murderous batting raised visions of victory after top-order collpase. Finally, they were all-out for 218 in 38 overs. Left-arm spinner Mukesh Sharma was the pick of the bowlers grabbing five for 59 in nine overs.
