Imphal, Aug. 14: The Thang Ta Federation of India is peeved over Manipur University for not pressing for inclusion of Thang Ta in the inter-university meet.

The Thang Ta Federation of India said in a statement that for the last eight years, Manipur University is holding an inter-college meet to heighten the importance and image of the sport.

However, in order to further elevate the status of the game countrywide, the federation has been making written request to Manipur University sports department for pressing the matter with the All India University (AIU) for Thang Ta's inclusion in the inter-univesity level.

Maintaining that Punjab University had steadfastly worked for inclusion of Gatka as a demonstration game in the AIU annual sports calendar 2015-16, the statement stated that the federation could not see why the same cannot be done for Thang Ta as well.

The Thang Ta Federation of India is at a loss why representatives from the Manipur University failed to make any representation in the AIU meeting.

The federation prayed to the university to hold invitation games so as to get closer to the realisation of the Olympic dream.
