Guwahati, Feb. 12: Ankurjyoti Club trounced Brahmaputra Boys Club by 182 runs in their match of the Servo 21st Guwahati Challenge Trophy All-Assam Cricket Tournament organised by River Rine Club at Judges Field here today.
Opting to bat proved to be the right decision for the Ankurjyoti batsmen as they played with ease to pile up a mammoth total of 312 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 40 overs.
The side rode on Parthajit Baishya’s fine knock of 116 runs off 96 balls while Raju Das chipped in with 83 runs off 87 deliveries. Abdul Saher Islam remained not out with 29 runs off 17 balls. Dipankar Das bagged two wickets conceding 48 runs in eight overs while Vikash Yadav picked up two wickets going for 67 runs in eight overs.
Chasing a stiff target, Brahmaputra boys failed to stay in the middle for long as the fall of wickets at regular intervals led the side to be bundled out for 130 runs in 27 overs. Mintu Sarkar scored 27 runs off 30 deliveries while Raju Mikir chipped in with 25 runs off 47 balls. Abdul Aziz contributed 13 runs off 22 deliveries. Rishav Dey was the wrecker-in-chief with six wickets to his kitty for 25 runs in six overs while Akash Sharma bagged two wickets going for 35 runs in six overs.
Navajyoti Club will play Brahmaputra Boys Club tomorrow.
