The father of television actress Pallavi Dey, who was found hanging at her apartment on Sunday, lodged a police complaint on Monday accusing her live-in partner of murder.
Dey, 25, was found hanging in her room in their rented apartment in Garfa near Jadavpur in south Kolkata.
Her father Nilu Dey said in the complaint that his daughter was killed by her male friend and another woman.
“My daughter was being physically tortured. We have learned from her colleagues and industry friends that they had seen injury marks on her…. They were purchasing a flat at Rajarhat but neither was it bought in my daughter’s name nor did the man pay for it. My daughter paid Rs 50 lakh for the same and the flat was bought in the name of his father.”
Dey also alleged that the couple had opened a joint fixed deposit, for which the live-in partner had “fraudulently” made Pallavi invest Rs 15 lakh.
Police have started a case under IPC Section 302 (murder) against Pallavi’s live-in partner, the woman mentioned in the complaint and others. The woman named in the complaint denied the allegations against him.
The actress’s live-in partner could not be contacted as his phone was switched off. Calls to his father remained unanswered.
Sources later said the police had seized the cellphones of Pallavi and her male friend.
Investigators said they have learned that Pallavi had called their domestic help around 8.30am on Sunday asking her to come for work. She was found hanging around 9.30am.
