The AFLA Network in Calcutta hosted an event that explored the evolving dynamics of human-machine collaboration and the ascent of AI-driven personal assistants. Bhasin has a postgraduate degree in economics from the University of Warwick and is Dentsu India’s senior vice-president, product and technology. He has been an integral part of Dentsu’s data sciences division in South Asia.

He emphasised that AI presents unprecedented opportunities for innovation and progress. Contrary to apprehensions, he believes that AI should be viewed as a friend, augmenting human capabilities rather than supplanting them.

Participants highlighted how AI-powered solutions have revolutionised diagnostics, treatment and patient care, propelling the healthcare sector into a new era of efficiency. However, concerns regarding AI’s potential existential threat underscore the need for ethical considerations and vigilant oversight.

The discussion also shed light on the humanitarian aspect often overlooked in the pursuit of technological advancement. While AI promises progress, its ethical implications demand scrutiny to ensure that it serves the greater good.

The event also highlighted AI’s collaboration with key sectors such as education, finance, and manufacturing, underscoring its role as a catalyst for innovation and optimisation.

Participants emphasised the importance of developing skills conducive to an AI-powered evolving landscape. While acknowledging the many opportunities afforded by AI, the event also underscored the importance of a steadfast commitment to the greater good.

Rohan Ganeriwala, chairperson of ALFA Network, said: ‘‘As individuals, we must embrace AI and implement it into our business. It’s an evolving landscape but the main USP of the event was to cater to a diverse spectrum of audiences. There are a lot of takeaways from this event which individuals can implement effectively.”
