Samridh Sen prevails at the Eastern Amateur Tour Championship at Tollygunge Club

Amateurs as well as juniors battled it out at the latest IGU Amateur Feeder Tour event

The Tollygunge Club witnessed an exhilarating culmination to the Indian Golf Union (IGU) East Zone Amateur Feeder Tour 2023 as Samridh Sen stole the show with a stunning display of golfing prowess. Sen shot two remarkable rounds, finishing four under par with a total of 134 (69 and 65), marking an unforgettable conclusion to the Eastern Amateur Tour Championship 2023 on November 23.

While Sen’s exceptional performance captivated the event, Saquib Hussain emerged as the runner-up in the Amateur category, showcasing a commendable effort with a 15 over par 153 across two rounds. Notably, Hussain secured the Order of Merit (OOM) title for the entire season, accumulating a total of 297 points in this year’s East Zone Feeder Tour’s OOM.

In the Mid-Amateur category, Abhishek Mitra clinched victory, carding a 19 over par 157 in two rounds, while Sumit Kakkar closely followed with a score of 162, securing the second position.

Sudeep Chitlangia displayed finesse in the Senior category, finishing with a 13 over par 151, claiming the top spot, while K. Indrajit trailed with a score of 166. However, K. Indrajit’s prowess shone in the Super Senior category, where he emerged victorious, with Ashit Luthra securing the second position with a score of 169.

The juniors showcased immense talent in the IGU East Zone Junior Feeder Tour’s final event. Lakshya Agarwal triumphed in the A & B Boys’ division, recording a score of 25 over par 163, closely followed by Naitik Agarwal with a score of 181. In the A & B Girls’ category, Samaira Chitlangia triumphed with a score of 169, while Vaanyaa Rustagi secured victory in the C & D Girls’ division, closely followed by Vaasvi Himatsingka.

Aranyak Chakraborty claimed victory in the C Boys’ division with a score of 153, with Darsht Chaurasia securing the second position at 166. Shivang Jhunjhunwala emerged victorious in the D Boys’ division with a score of 231. In the under-nine juniors’ category, Novika Kakkar claimed victory in the E Girls’ division with a score of 98, while Parikshet More secured the top position in the E Boys’ category with a score of 82.

The event’'s prizes were awarded by Brigadier V. Ganapathy, CEO of Tollygunge Club; Anil Bhargava, president of the Bengal Golf Association; and Indrajit Bhalotia, director of Protouch Sports and tour director of IGU East Zone Junior & Amateur Feeder Tour.

The Eastern Amateur Tour Championship 2023 not only showcased exceptional talent across various categories but also highlighted the spirit of sportsmanship and dedication among the participants, marking a memorable conclusion to this year’s golfing season.

The tour's education partner was The Champ for Life Academy, the outdoor media partner was Balaji Ads and the online proshop partner was Golfedge. Keventer, eastern India's largest FMCG company, had sponsored giveaways for all the participants. The event was managed by Protouch Sports.
