The St. Stephen’s College Alumni Association (Calcutta Chapter) hosted their ‘Gala Reunion Dinner’ on February 3 at The Tollygunge Club’s Balmer Lawrie Hall. The well-known Delhi-based institution’s alumni members from across batches and from different walks of life gathered for an evening of nostalgia and fun. Stephanians right from the batch of 1955 to 2023 made the evening memorable with their presence. Comedy pro Mir Afsar Ali, who was present at the gathering as a special guest, livened up the celebration in the evening with a dose of entertainment. A delish buffet spread for dinner concluded the event. Glimpses.

Mir Afsar Ali was a special invitee at the reunion and he engaged in an interactive session with the Stephanians and made the evening fun and memorable for them. “It feels remarkably pleasant to be invited by Stephanians here. Alumni members right from the 1955 batch have come together with 2023 pass-outs. So, there is a wide range of generations present in the room. Moreover, getting to see distinguished members from this highly established college renowned for its pursuits is undoubtedly a priceless moment in itself,” said Mir.

“The Calcutta chapter is the most active alumni association across India. We conduct events about every three quarters. Last year, it was in February and August, and a picnic in December. It feels great to keep in touch throughout the year,” said Rituraaj Barbora of the 1997 batch.

Stephanians Seema Paramshiv and Aishwarya Mukhopadhyay were captured cherishing memories of their college days together.

(L-R) Friends and former Stephenians Swapan Dasgupta, Arun Lal and Ashok Ghosh posed for a picture. “We are having a gala time here, recollecting memories over food and wine,” said Swapan Dasgupta, writer and former member of the Indian Parliament. Former Indian cricketer Arun Lal of the class of 1977, said: “It feels lovely to be able to connect with my former batchmates yet again. To see them around feels like I never left college.”
