In a delightful resurgence of camaraderie and trivia, the much-loved Tin-N-Bottle Family Quiz at the Dalhousie Institute (DI), in association with t2, made a triumphant return on January 20 after a brief pandemic-induced hiatus. A DI tradition, it invites participants to contribute items valued at Rs 50, preferably a tin or bottle, which are then used to create hampers for the event’s winners.

True to DI’s spirit of inclusivity, the Tin-N-Bottle Quiz at the Dalhousie Institute has always been a family affair. “We consider everyone at DI to be part of a big family, and this is only one of the ways we choose to showcase that,” said Vikas Khandelwal, a member of the club.

This year’s quiz saw eight teams of six people participating in a lighthearted and fun-filled session held within the club grounds, with Charanpreet Singh, DI member, taking on the role of quizmaster for the evening. “This is a family quiz, so it’s very fun and relaxed, and sometimes you get surprisingly good answers from people who don’t quiz. So, it’s good to push them to think, and all the teams did brilliantly,” he said, smiling happily when we caught up for a quick chat.

“It brings me immense joy to witness the vibrant intellectual spirit that our club fosters,” said Jayajit Biswas, president, Dalhousie Institute. “Quizzing has long been a cherished tradition at our club, and this Family Quiz is not only an enriching experience, but also an excellent opportunity for members and their families to come together and contribute to the rich tapestry of our club’s heritage.”
