XLRI achieves full summer internship placement

XLRI, the country's oldest B-school, successfully achieved 100 per cent summer internship placement for its 2022-24 batch for its flagship programmes in human resource management and business management.

A communique issued on Monday afternoon by the institution, which has its campus in Jamshedpur and Delhi NCR, stated that the 100 per cent placements for the batch of 2022-24 was achieved for its two-year programmes — Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management.

“The largest batch in the institute’s history, comprising 510 students, secured 525 offers during the process from 103 firms across consulting, finance, sales, marketing, general management, product management, operations, analytics and human resources, among other roles,” the release stated.

Sources in the placement cell confided that the two-day summer internship placement was held between October 6 and October 7.

The institution also achieved record-high average and median stipends of Rs 1.54 lakh per month and Rs 1.50 lakh per month, marking year-on-year increases of 16.67 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively. The highest stipend stood at Rs 3.5 lakh per month.

“The average stipend for the top 5 per cent, top 10 per cent, top 25 per cent, top 50 per cent stood at Rs 2.35 lakh per month, Rs 2.17 lakh per month, Rs 2.02 lakh per month, Rs 1.85 lakh per month, respectively. 96 per cent of all the offers secured will draw a stipend of at least Rs 1 lakh per month, with 67 per cent drawing at least Rs 1.5 lakh per month,” the release added.

XLRI director Fr S. George S.J said: “We have had another astoundingly successful summer placement season at XLRI, breaking all previous records. The new recruiters this year included Airtel, Alkem Laboratories, Atlassian, Auctus Advisors, BLS International, Himalaya Wellness, Indigo Edge, Piramal, Prime Venture Partners, Providence, SBI Capital, Shannonside Capital, Something’s Brewing, Tata 1mg, United Breweries Limited and Winzo among others.

Recruiters in the management consulting domain included Accenture Strategy, Aon Consulting, Auctus

Advisors, Bain and Company, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Kearney, KPMG, McKinsey and Company, PwC, and Synergy Consulting among others. Accenture Strategy was the top recruiter with 30 offers, followed by Boston Consulting Group, Bain and Company, PwC and McKinsey and Company with 22, 16, 11 and nine offers, respectively.

American Express was the top recruiter in the BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) sector with eight offers followed by JP Morgan and Shannonside Capital with three offers each in their debt market, sales, trading and hedge fund buy side roles.

Bajaj Auto was the top recruiter in FMCG and consumer durables sector with 25 offers followed by HUL and Asian Paints with 21 and 11 offers, respectively.

Aditya Birla Group was the highest recruiter in the conglomerates sector with 11 offers followed by Reliance and Tata Administrative Services with nine and six offers, respectively.

Amazon was the top recruiter in the IT and e-commerce sector with 41 offers followed by Walmart and Flipkart with seven and six offers, respectively.
