Jamshedpur: A 22-year-old newly married woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan at their rented house on Road 6 in Ramjanamnagar, Kadma, on Tuesday morning with preliminary probe indicating suicide over domestic tiff.

Police have registered a case of unnatural death on the statement of Dipti Kumari's father Bharat Lal and sent the body to MGM Medical College in Dimna for post-mortem.

It is suspected that Dipti committed suicide between 7am and 8am after her husband, Nakul Kumar, left for work at a private firm in Adityapur. The couple had tied the knot only last month, but quarrels were frequent between them, neighbours have told police.

Lal, who lives in Sonari, said his daughter married Nakul on October 10 following a love affair. "After marriage, she rarely visited me and I believed she was happy," he said.

Kadma OC R.D. Singh confirmed suicide, but did not rule out abetment. "Husband Nakul will be questioned while we wait for the autopsy report."
