Jamshedpur, May 5: It was GenY for the elderly.
Child artistes and reality TV stars performed in a programme titled Nanhe Sitaron Ki Mehfil organised by Marwari Mahila Manch at Tata auditorium to generate funds for a proposed old-age home.
Avika Gor (Anandi of Balika Vadhu), Sparsh Khanchandani (Ichchha in Uttran), Swini Khara (Sexy in Cheeni Kum), Saloni of Chhote Ustaad, Khushi Dubey (Amrita in Naginn) and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s little champ Sameer Mohammed all lit up the stage in the evening today.
“This is the first time that I am in Jamshedpur and it feels great to support a noble cause,” said Swini, sounding older than her 12 years.
Talking to the media after the show, the young artistes admitted that it was difficult to manage between studies and shooting — but stressed that they did manage at the end of the day. Swini catches up on her homework while travelling to sets and in sets, while Sparsh makes sure she completes her study before she leaves for the day’s shoot.
But, she admits that her “two lives” are different. “The main difference is that I have a loving father. My character in Uttran is poor and does not have a father,” said Sparsh, a Class IV student.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs star Sameer Mohammed managed to get the audience grooving to his Chunari Chunari and Dil Da Mamla.
Marwari Mahila Manch organised the charity show to contribute to the proposed old -age home in Seraikela-Kharsawan. “We wanted a lucky start for the project and what can be luckier than these marvellous talents,” said Jaya Dokania, the manch founder.
