Dhanbad, Oct. 30: Residents mobbed Pragati Research Center, a private nursing home in Dhanbad, after 38-year-old Ravi Biswas, owner of the Kiran Gift Centre in the Saraidhela market, died early this morning allegedly due to doctor?s negligence.
The Saraidhela market remained closed today.
A written complaint of ?negligence on part of the doctor? was also submitted at the local police station.
Ravi was admitted to the Pragati Medical and Research Centre after he complained of fever and nausea on October 25.
Sunil Kumar Sinha attended him and suspected it to be typhoid. Around 6 am today the nursing home authorities asked Ravi?s family members to shift him to the Apollo Hospital in Ranchi. Ravi, however, died within half- an-hour.
A mob of 200-odd businessmen and residents gathered at the nursing home and demanded action against the attending physician.
The nursing home owner, Jai Prakash Khaitan, had a tough time pacifying them. The errant doctor never turned up.
?We have lodged a written complaint of negligence against the doctor at the Saraidhela police station and we will intimate the BCCL authorities about the corrupt practices of their employees,? said Subash Biswas, Ravi?s father.
The fact that many doctors working in the Pragati nursing home are employed with the BCCL has enraged people.
While Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is yet to suspend Ashok Kumar Singh, who flouted the service norm by carrying on private practice in Jharia, more doctors have been accused of indulging in private practice.
