Jamshedpur, Nov. 14: The city today took a step closer towards the first-of-its-kind master plan.
East Singhbhum district technical committee today discussed the Draft Urban Agglomeration prepared by US-based agency Superior Global that was submitted to the steering committee last month.
Chairman of the technical committee and East Singhbhum deputy development commissioner Sitaram Bari directed the members to come up with their suggestions and views on the draft urban agglomeration by November 24.
The technical committee discussed relocation of business activity centres in the city, development of outer ring road, connecting Mango and Adityapur with bridges to ease out traffic congestion, developing waste management and other facilities for the satellite townships that would be built according to the master plan.
Officials present at the meeting said the committee members called for implementation of the land use map according to the one provided by the agency.
“After getting the suggestions from technical committee members, there might be some changes in the draft based on their suggestions. Later the draft would be sent to state’s urban development department to study it before giving the green signal,” said a member of the technical committee.
The master plan covers areas under four civic bodies — Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, Mango Notified Area Committee, Adityapur Municipal Council and Jugsalai Municipality. It would also cover areas like Kitadih, Haludbani and Parsudih. Later, the Urban Agglomeration also included east and west parts of Mango along Tata-Kandra main road in Adityapur, parts of Chhota Govindpur and Sarjamda in the proposed master plan.
Members present at the meeting said the plan would suggest facilities that needs to be developed in the steel city keeping in mind the population boom that is expected in the next 20 years.
The master plan aims at control haphazard construction of buildings, industries, roads and to identify residential, commercial and industrial areas. It would also suggest where to construct sewerage lines, residential complexes, schools, commercial establishments and industrial units. It would also help in meeting the basic requirement for water, electricity and good roads.
