Ranchi, June 20: The annual award ceremony of the Lioness club was organised at the Ranchi club today.
The club gave awards to members who have rendered distinguished service in the past year.
The club members also pledged to selflessly serve the society in the coming years.
The awards given out include best president, best supporting member, best advisor and best past president among others.
Rashmi Mehta was given the award for the best supporting member, Asha Biyani was voted the best advisor.
Usha Rani Singh got the award for punctuality. Other awardees include Asha Maheshwari, Ayesha Sharma, Sushmita Banerjee, Meenakshi Bhagat and Manisha Chatterjee.
Speaking to The Telegraph, club secretary Poonam Anand said the club will remain devoted to social causes in the coming year.
“We have been working on various social issues for the past year. We have reached out to schools in rural areas of Jharkhand and have helped many poor children there. Furthermore, we have been to various colonies occupied by leprosy victims and have distributed clothes, blankets and other items of necessity,” she said.
Poonam was given the award for the best supporting Lioness club member today.
The awards were given after evaluating the performance of the club members in various social service activities undertaken by the club last year.
The Lioness club had earned accolades for its welfare programmes in Cheshire Home, Bariatu and in Blind School near Bahubazar.
Cultural programmes organised by children were a huge hot in the ceremony. Sneha Prasad and Shreyashi Mazumdar were among the many notable performers.
