Residents can soon beat the summer heat with the construction of two swimming pools |
Jamshedpur, March 21: The initiative of Jamshedpur Utilities and Services Company (Jusco), a subsidiary of Tata Steel, to construct two swimming pools in the city seem to have gathered momentum after the recent visit of a consultant firm from Delhi.
Sources said Jusco officials and their counterparts from the consulting agency from Delhi held lengthy discussions on the technical details of the swimming pools to be built in the eastern and western parts of the steel city.
Sources said the swimming pool would cost nearly Rs 1 crore.
?We have talked to some consulting firms from Delhi and Bangalore on the project. Things are moving in the right direction. We expect to finish the project within six months,? said a Jusco official.
One of the swimming pools could be of international size. Kadma and Sidhgora have been earmarked as locations for the swimming pools. Bistupur could well be the other option in place of Kadma, the officials said, adding that the Scouts Training Centre was earlier selected as the venue in Kadma but later the plan has been shelved due to space crunch.
Jusco managing director Sanjeev Paul said the swimming pool project was expected to be complete in six months. ?We have discussed the technical details of the pools with a consultant. Jusco would construct the pool on its own,? he added.
According to sources in the company, the other swimming pool is expected to come up on a vacant land near the water tower in Sidhgora.
?We have some locations in mind for the project. The place for the swimming pool project would be selected after considering several factors,? the sources said.
?We have plans to set up a committee for poll maintenance. A token fee would be charged for the pool membership,? the official said, adding that the fee structure would be worked out shortly.
