A 31-year-old housewife committed suicide at her Kadma residence on Tuesday morning, apparently driven to taking her life by a chronic migraine she had been suffering from for the last seven years.
Mother of a one-year-old, Archana Paul was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her Vijaya Gardens home by her husband Sanjay, a Tata Steel employee.
As Archana was still breathing when he found her around 7.30am, Sanjay rushed her to Tata Main Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
Alerted by the police camp at the hospital, the Kadma police station started investigations into the death. The police were yet to speak to the family members of the deceased.
Though there was no one present at the victim’s house, a neighbour said Archana’s husband was in tears as he rushed his wife to hospital. “The woman was sick for a long and could have killed herself over her prolonged illness,” she said.
Speaking on condition of anonymity a relative said the victim suffered from migraine. “The pain was sometimes unbearable. Though several doctors were consulted, she could not be cured,” he said.
