Accessories to gift items, Fashionista — a trends exhibition in Jamshedpur — threw open its treasure trove with around 25 kiosks at The Alcor Hotel last Friday. Hosted by a Mumbai-based event organiser of the same name, the exhibition was inaugurated by television actor Pawan Shankar of Kya Hua Tera Vaada fame and was on till Sunday.

City denizens were awestruck by the varied array of home décor items, oxidised jewellery in modern and antique designs presented by exhibitors from Mumbai, Calcutta, Jaipur, Chandigarh and other cities.

About 1,500 visitors walked the aisles of the fair, sifting through lehengas in silk, cotton, net and other fabrics that flatter the body and costume jewellery that give them that much desired different look. From the exquisite and intricate chandbalis and polki jewellery to the new trend of designer Anarkali salwar kameez, there were takers for each item.

“This is the first time we have organised this kind of an exhibition. We want to bridge the gap between metros and tier II cities through such fairs. Designer wear and unique jewellery, which are otherwise not available in Jamshedpur, were on offer. We plan to make this an annual event,” said Vinod Rajak, deputy general manager of Fashionista.

“We have received a good response in the steel city. The exhibitors also did brisk business and are willing to come back,” added Rajak.
