Jamshedpur: Bachendri Pal, chief of Tata Steel adventure programme, has sought logistical support from Union minister of road transport Nitin Gadkari for the upcoming Haridwar-Patna Clean Ganga mission.

The month-long Clean Ganga mission under Swachha Bharat Abhiyan will begin on October 2.

"I wrote to the minister recently. Though the Union government has given its nod for the 1500km rafting expedition on river Ganga but I have written to Gadkarii ji asking for his support on waste management and its disposal. We cannot go ahead with the mission without the help of the government," Bachendri said.

She further added that she also apprised the Union minister on the need for adequate support from municipal bodies of different cities located along the Ganga.

A 40-member team - 20 men and as many women - will be formed for the month-long expedition.

"We will take 30 employees of Tata Steel and TSAF and 10 outsiders for the expedition. We will finalise the list within a week," said TSAF senior manager Hemant Gupta.

TSAF employees Everesters Premlata Agarwal, Rajendra Singh Pal, Hemant Gupta, Sandeep Tolia, Swarnalata Dalai and Poonam Rana and TSAF manager and climber Pranav Mamgain are already part of the team.
