An Alto arriving from Kundi village and crossing the Gerua river on Tandwa road near Tute Chhalta in, Chatra, was washed away by a strong current of about 100 feet, and pulled out on Sunday morning.

Three young men sitting in the car managed to get out and reach a safe place, before the incident occurred on Saturday evening.

Cars stuck in a depression in the area were being pulled out by Hyva tractors by locals, but the vehicles couldn’t withstand the water flow.

A few tractors also washed away, and all vehicles were stuck overnight.

The Tandwa road has, since March 14th, replaced the Gerua bridge, which is the lifeline of the colliery area.

The road was constructed in collaboration of CCL and NPCC along with the assistance of MLA Kishan Kumar Das.

However, the project has failed and Tandwa has once again turned into an island.

Thief who escaped twice tests negative

A coronavirus positive thief who became a big headache for healthcare workers and police tested negative and shifted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central Jail on Monday.

The thief had escaped twice, once from Hazaribagh Medical College and Hospital (HMCH), and jumping out of an ambulance the second time, infecting thirty policemen in his pursuit.

Two police stations, Korra and Sadar, were also made containment zones due to his antics.

HMCH superintendent Sanjay Sinha told The Telegraph Online said the thief’s report came as a sigh of relief for all.

The thief had admitted that he escaped because of his addiction of marijuana.

Sinha also informed of an advanced real time RT-PCR machine installed at HMCH.

He said 200 were done tests daily, although the machine has the capacity to do at least 1000 tests.

He said the college principal had written a letter to principal health secretary Nitin Madan Kulkarni, requesting an intervention into the same.

Demand for quick RT-PCR lab set-up

A joint group of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress leaders in Bokaro on Monday met deputy commissioner, Rajesh Kumar Singh demanding a quick set-up RT-PCR testing laboratory to tame the Covid spread.

They expressed concern over the rise in positive cases and the delay in getting sample test reports from PMCH, Dhanbad.

About 1500 test reports have been pending for a week.

The recent transfer of former DC, Mukesh Kumar has slowed the process.

There are 113 Covid-19 positive patients detected in Bokaro.

Out of these, 46 people are cured, and four have died.

PNB joins Covid fight in Palamau

Punjab National Bank Daltonganj handed 10 litres of sanitizers and 400 N 95 masks to new Plamau DC Shashi Ranjan on Monday.

Senior branch manager R K Ambhasht and branch manager V S Murari handed down these two tools in the fight against Covid-19 without any fanfare.

“We will be distributing this for three months from now onwards. We will do what we can to make our customers aware of social distancing and the value of wearing masks,” Murari told The Telegraph Online.

“PDS dealers will now be tested. A dealer had recently tested positive, and then negative,” the DC said.

Fifteen shop keepers were served notices under section 188 of IPC on charge of not wearing masks in Daltonganj, said additional collector revenue PK Prasad.

Fruit and vegetable vendors, tea sellers etc all will be tested, the DC added.

There has been a spurt in cases in Daltonganj town and Hariharganj block in Palamau.

Palamau shares borders with Bihar.

There are scores of labourers who now want to move out of Palamau to start life afresh at their previous workplaces in places like Andaman Nicobar islands, Goa, Vishakhapatnam, Karnataka, Bangalore, Rajasthan, and Haryana.

A truck container going to Asansol from Delhi in Siyarkoni of Chouparan, caught fire due to short circuit on Monday.

The driver and cleaner of the vehicle ws container carrying turned to ash.

Funeral site construction work begins

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner, Uma Shankar Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh B Verior on Monday visited Aamjhar Panchayat of Baliapur block and supervised the construction work of a funeral site for Covid affected bodies.

On Sunday, local villagers carried out a violent protest against the construction work due to the risk it posed on their heakth.

Three policemen were injured in the clash.

Janta Darbar resumes

Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner, Uma Shankar Singh who carried a host of steps to improve the administration in the district soon after joining office on July 17, will resume the Janta Darbar in the district collectorate from Tuesday.

The darbar, which will be held every Tuesday and Friday between 12 noon and 2pm, will hear and address the grievances of the common people.
