Bhubaneswar, March 30: The director’s seat has always been an attraction for some actors —thus it came as no surprise when Oriya superstar Siddhant came out with his decision to don the director’s hat soon.
Siddhanth Mohapatra has some 100 films in his kitty, including a couple of Bengali and Tamil hits. He has been in the Oriya film industry for the past 15 years.
Now, the superstar is all set to make his directional debut with Kahra Kete Dum?
The film, which will start rolling by October 2008, is a venture by the Jhadeshwar Media Communications.
The film would star Siddhanta and Delhi actress Namrata in the lead and is slated for a 2009 release.
“I have always followed my heart. I had been thinking about this (directing) for quite sometime. As soon as I got a decent story, I grabbed the opportunity. I am excited about the movie and expect that it will do well,” said the actor.
“There is no confusion in my mind that this is the right move for me. I am taking care of all the finer details myself and will certainly try to give my audience something fresh,” he added.
The actor raised expectations at the media meet stating that the masala flick would be a complete package for the family with comedy, drama, suspense and of course romance — all in all a pot-boiler.
Siddhant won the state film awards consecutively for six years in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
In a career spanning over 15 years the actor has given a host of hits, including Suhag Sindura, Lakhe Siba Puji Paichi Pua, Mo Kala To Jhulana, Pua Mora Jagata Jita, Kalki Abataar, Suna Panjuri, Rakhile Kalia Mariba Kiye, and Sasu Ghara Chalijibi.
