New Delhi, June 2: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reconstituted the National Security Advisory Board, a group of experts that assists the National Security Council and gives inputs on issues of strategic importance.
S.K. Lambah, who was India’s ambassador to Moscow and Pakistan and special envoy for Afghanistan, will be the convener. The 15-member board will have a two-year term.
Other members include Hamid Ansari, a retired diplomat and former vice-chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.
Raja Mohan, professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University’s centre for international politics and disarmament, is also on the panel.
Defence Research and Development Organisation scientist Amitabh Malik has been retained from the previous board.
The three services are represented by Lt Gen. (retd) S.S. Mehta, former army commander, western command, Air Marshal (retd) P.S. Brar, the former vice chief of air staff, and Vice Admiral (retd) P.J. Jacob former vice chief of naval staff.
