New Delhi, March 20: The government today named Air Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik the next Chief of Air Staff.
Naik (in picture), now the Vice-Chief of Air Staff, will take over on May 31 when Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major is due to retire.
A fighter aircraft pilot with more than 3,000 hours of flying to his credit, Naik was commissioned into the air force on June 21, 1969. In 40 years, he has served in many command, staff and instructional appointments before taking over as the vice-chief.
A fellow of the National Defence College, Naik was given the Param Vishist Seva and Vishist Seva Medals. He is an honorary ADC to the Supreme Commander (President).
