Proceedings in both Houses of Parliament were stalled on Tuesday as Opposition MPs demanded repeal of the farm laws in the Lok Sabha and a separate discussion on the farmers’ protests in the Rajya Sabha.

Both houses witnessed frequent adjournments before the presiding officers called it a day.

In the Rajya Sabha after chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu turned down the demand for suspension of business listed for the day to discuss the ongoing agitation of farmers, Opposition MPs staged a walk out and returned to press for their demand.

The chairman said the issue could be taken up during the discussion on the motion of thanks to the President’s address, scheduled to begin on Wednesday.

The Lok Sabha, too, witnessed uproarious protests by Opposition members against the farm laws, leading to adjournments.
