Dress code for MP govt teachers
• BHOPAL: Government teachers in Madhya Pradesh will have to follow a uniform dress code - maroon jacket for women and navy blue for men - from the next academic session, according to an order of the education department. The order said how the teachers dress is important as the directive is to bring uniformity and check personality differences. In addition to the dress code, the teachers will have to put a name tag on their jacket with Rashtra Nirmata (nation builder) written on it, the order said. PTI
Jallikattu bull dies
• PUDUKOTTAI: A prize-winning Jallikattu bull owned by a Tamil Nadu minister died on Sunday after it was injured when it hit a wall at the venue, police said. Komban, owned by health minister C. Vijaya Baskar, was taken to a nearby hospital where it succumbed to head injuries. PTI
Bank robbery bid
• JAIPUR: Four persons have been arrested for allegedly attempting a burglary at a bank in the Gudagodji town of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, police said. Of the four arrested, one has claimed that he was a part of the elite President's Bodyguard. He was identified as Sandeep Rajput. A car was also recovered from the accused. PTI
Leopard attack
• BAHRAICH: An eight-year-old boy was killed in a leopard attack near the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, an official said. Robin was playing with friends when the leopard attacked him. An immediate relief of Rs 10,000 has been given to the family of the kid and additional compensation will be provided after post-mortem, he said. PTI

• KRISHNAGIRI: A poacher was killed when he accidentally triggered his gun in in the Kuruvinayanpatti forest area in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district on Sunday, police said. The man was hunting when the gun accidentally went off, killing him, they said. PTI

• MUMBAI: A fire broke out at a scrap market in suburban Kurla on Sunday morning. No casualty has been reported, a fire brigade official said. The flames engulfed the packing material, stock of oil and chemicals and scrap material kept in the area. PTI
Fire scare on train from Delhi
• NEW DELHI: A seating-cum-luggage coach of the Varanasi-bound Kashi Vishwanath Express caught fire on Sunday at the Hapur railway station, around 65km from the capital. No passenger was injured in the incident. While the cause of the fire was still being investigated, officials, prima facie, suspected that flammable materials used to seal the rake could have resulted in the blaze. PTI
Wife murder term
• NEW DELHI: A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Delhi High Court for stabbing his wife to death 21 times with a peeler knife six years ago. The court noted that the assault on the woman's head was "so brutal" that it resulted in fracture of the underlying skull bone. The court dismissed the appeal of Devender Dass, saying it was without any substance and upheld his conviction and sentence of life imprisonment by the trial court. PTI
J&K accident
• JAMMU: As many as 28 people were injured on Sunday when their bus, coming from Punjab, turned turtle after colliding with a truck it was trying to overtake on the Jammu-Punjab National Highway, police said. All the injured were taken to a nearby hospital and some were later shifted to the Government Medical College in Jammu for specialised treatment. PTI

• AMBALA: Nine juveniles escaped from an observation home at Ambala city on Sunday, police said. Some of them were accused of serious offences and most juveniles who fled were in the age group of 12 to 18 years. The incident came to the notice of the home authorities when some other inmates reported the juveniles were missing. PTI

• RAMESWARAM: More than 3,000 fishermen from Tamil Nadu who had set out to sea in 460 mechanised boats were on Sunday chased away by the Sri Lankan Navy when they were allegedly fishing near Katchatheevu islet, fisheries department officials said. PTI

• MUZAFFARNAGAR: A Dalit man was taken into preventive custody here after he threatened to commit suicide because his land was allegedly grabbed by a few influential people in the city, police said. PTI
