Jammu, April 14 (PTI): The girlfriend of Captain Chaitanya Bhatwadekar, in custody for abetting the suicide of his wife Captain Megha Razdan last year, has been arrested in Pune by Jammu and Kashmir police.

Seema Kulkarni was brought here today for questioning, the police said.

Bhatwadekar was arrested on April 1 on charges of abetting his 26-year-old wife’s suicide and cruelty under the Ranbir Penal Code.

Before Razdan’s death, Kulkarni and Bhatwadekar had exchanged over 200 text messages, which the police have recovered.

A local court on April 2 granted the police a six-day remand of Bhatwadekar for interrogation.

Razdan was found hanging in her army quarters at Kunjwani on July 1 last year.

A purported suicide note, stating she was harassed by her seniors in the army, had been recovered in the case.

The probe later homed in on Bhatwadekar who allegedly tried to escape investigation by cutting his tongue and enacting a kidnapping drama, the police said.
