 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday named former TV anchor and journalist Isudan Gadhvi as its chief ministerial candidate for next month's Assembly elections in Gujarat.

The announcement was made by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who said the 40-year-old Gadhvi got as many as 73 per cent votes in a poll conducted by the party.

Gadhvi was pitted against state party unit chief Gopal Italia, who played a key role in the Patidar community agitation.

Sudhir Suri, a Hindutva right wing leader, was shot dead in Amritsar on Friday, reports 

The leader of a local outfit using the name Shiv Sena, Suri was protesting outside a temple over a management dispute when he was shot at five times allegedly by a local shopkeeper.

The Delhi BJP on Friday demanded that the AAP government order closure of schools in the national capital in view of severe air pollution.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi BJP office, national spokesperson of the party Shehzad Poonawala said the AAP government should stop playing with the lives of the children and close the schools.

Polling for the municipal election in Delhi will be held on December 4 while the votes will be counted on December 7, State Election Commissioner Vijay Dev announced on Friday.

The Model Code of Conduct comes into force in the national capital from Friday itself, he said."Voting for the municipal polls in Delhi will be held on December 4 while the results will be announced on December 7.

The filing of nominations will begin from November 7 and the last date for the same is November 14," Dev said at a press conference.

South Korea's military said it scrambled stealth jets on Friday after detecting the mobilization of 180 North Korean warplanes.

There were no immediate reports of clashes.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea reported that 80 aircraft, including F-35A stealth fighters, were scrambled after North Korean aircraft were spotted at many locations north of the "tactical action line."

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has secured a majority of parliamentary seats in the country's fifth election in four years.

Netanyahu and his right-wing allies won a total of 64 seats of parliament's 120 seats. His own Likud party won 32 seats, while ultra-Orthodox parties secured 18 seats, and a far-right alliance won 14 seats, the Israeli electoral commission said on Thursday.
