The last year has been one of hectic travelling and as a result, I got to spend very little time in the city. But now, having recently got back from a trip to Moscow, I?m relishing being back in Calcutta again. Frankly speaking, right now every day is like a weekend, but having said that, Saturdays and Sundays are always unusually busy.

My friends and acquaintances all know that weekends are open house as far as I?m concerned so they start dropping in right from the morning. There are publishers, friends, family, even prospective buyers who come by to take a look at my work, and the mornings rush by in a blur of activity, divided between work and pleasure.

Come evening and my weekend schedules are still action-packed what with the number of events happening all over the city. There are parties, exhibitions, and other get-togethers to attend, and it?s a good opportunity to meet up with even more friends. I have acquaintances from the entertainment industry who ask me to come over to watch their film shoots, friends from foreign consulates who are hosting events or even poets, writers and fellow artists who I meet up for a chat. When it comes to eating out, Chinese food tops my list and Mainland China and Kafulok in Tangra are among my favourite haunts, whether I?m entertaining or being entertained. I don?t really enjoy watching films, unless they give me food for thought and you must admit that very few films nowadays actually do that. But yes, I do enjoy watching theatre or even attending musical conferences or evenings at friends? places especially if artistes like Pandit Jasraj or Amjad Ali Khan are performing.
