Being in the acting profession, I don’t usually get an entire weekend off. But yes, as a rule, I prefer not to work on Sundays and more often than not, stick to this, except of course, when an emergency crops up on the work front.
On the Saturdays and Sundays when no work awaits me though, it’s a different story altogether. Ideally I’d love to wake up late. But my body clock refuses to comply. So I always find myself waking up a little before six in the morning. As much as I try to force myself to go back to sleep, I never can and end up lazing about in bed till about nine. When I finally lug myself out, I go on to pack in a heavy breakfast, which can consist of anything under the sun ? I am a total foodie, after all! The rest of the morning passes in a relaxed haze ? reading the newspapers, spending time with my parents, and deciding the modus operandi with friends for the evening. Lunch on Saturdays is an elaborate affair especially since afternoon meals on Sunday are relatively simpler. incorporating strictly Bangla staples like ghee-bhaat, alu bhaja and maach bhaja.
If lunch is always at home, I enjoy eating out for dinner. When it comes to choosing a place to dine, it’s almost always a restaurant that serves Mughlai food ? my favourite. Give me a plate of biryani and I’m a happy person!
Besides indulging my every craving when it comes to food, weekends are also a time to catch up with family and friends. Saturday evenings are reserved for my friends, some of whom also stay the night over and we make a regular girl’s night out of it! Sunday mornings are reserved for visiting my mashi and other relatives. I cherish these times as they allow me the opportunity to catch up and bond with my near and dear ones.
