Flying high at three

ICanFlyy celebrated its third Foundation Day on June 15 with song, dance and merrymaking at Myx, the nightclub off Park Street. The students dressed up to the nines and had a grand time on the dance floor, shaking a leg to Bollywood and international hits like Radha, Chitiyan kalaiyan and Despacito. The birthday cake was made by the students themselves in the bakery of the institute.

The partygoers cut a cake with Minu Budhia, founder of ICanFlyy. “The children are very excited as ICanFlyy turns three, and they all wanted to dance. Many of them had never been inside a nightclub before, so we decided to hold the celebrations here,” said Minu. Her daughter, Prachi, who inspired her mother’s mission with the foundation, was a part of the celebrations as well. “Prachi enjoys coming to the institute, where she has a group of friends now. She takes part in a lot of the activities too,” added Minu.

ICanFlyy— an early intervention and vocational skill building institute for children and adults with special needs — started out on June 15, 2015 as a unit of the institute Caring Minds. It provides on-site job training for its students, aged three years and above, with the help of educators as well as industry professionals.

“I had come earlier to a nightclub with my bhaiyya, but this is the first time with friends, and this time is nicer,” said Meghna Sood, who is a new member of the ICanFlyy family.
