Winter is ... er... long gone really, but the 191st Annual Flower Show in association with The Telegraph, held at The Agri-Horticultural Society of India in February, made sure that Calcuttans soaked in and enjoyed the last rays of the winter sun. Rose, chrysanthemum, peony and more... the burst of colours was a sight to behold. The bonsai section was a clear favourite. t2 took a stroll.
The flower shows at The Agri-Horticultural Society of India are always a photographer’s delight. This one was no different as the shutterbugs brought out their paraphernalia to capture the blooming beauties.
Rishika Agarwal, a Class X student of M.P. Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School, was at the flower show for the first time. “I love taking photographs and today’s flower show is the perfect place to take pictures. The entire place is so colourful and beautiful. I’d love to come back again next year if I have no exams,” said the photography enthusiast who dropped by with her parents.

With February being the month of love, red roses had to be a part of the bouquet! And they were of course the most sought- after flowers at the showing...

This bunch of orchids stopped us in our tracks.
“I come to the Annual Flower Show with my mother every year. We live in a concrete village which is why flowers attract me a lot. And this place has so many varieties,” said Pubali Pal, a businesswoman.
The pink petunia made for one of the most vibrant displays.
From red to white, the fragrant petunia blooms in a range of hues made our day!
Well, this plant that looks like a mini forest, is actually a tamarind bonsai! #Tangy

If you find beauty in simplicity, you could not have missed the cacti section. The Annual Flower Show showcased some rare varieties.
Adenium, a bonsai plant, was found in creative avatars at the Annual Flower Show.
Archisman Chakraborty, a Class III student of Garden High School who visited the show with his mother, loved the bonsais.
