I avoid oily and fried food. I also have a lot of fruits and regularly drink aamla and mosambi juice. This goes a long way in keeping my skin supple and fresh. As an actress I have to wear make-up for extended periods of time. To avoid any damage to my skin, I use a Clarins cleanser which is oil-based rather than cream-based. I follow that with an aloe vera gel and a Clarins night serum. I prefer to use very light make up. All my make up is from M.A.C. I like to use M.A.C Studio Fix foundation. I also prefer lipsticks and eye shadows by M.A.C. I firmly believe that a good diet and proper products can work wonders for the skin. |
I am a 27-year-old woman. I had my nose pierced about a month ago. But now it seems that something is seriously wrong with the piercing. It hurts at times and has begun to look ugly. The skin surrounding the piercing has turned dark and blackish — it has become dry and itchy. I also feel the development of some kind of bump on it. It looks really bad now. I try to keep my hands off it as even the slightest touch hurts. I am at my wit’s end. Please suggest a treatment for this.

Any kind of spot on the face spoils the appearance of a woman. The little fleshy bump you’re talking about is a keloid. Certain people especially those with a darker complexion are prone to this. A keloid is typically caused due to irritation of the pierced area. It could have happened as you accidentally knocked the piercing and may also form if you are not taking proper care of your piercing. You must not pick at it, scratch it, or attempt to “pop” it like a pimple or remove it from your skin. See a dermatologist and discuss your options with the doctor. The doctor can recommend whether he thinks the best treatment to get rid of your keloid by injecting it, surgically remove it or suggest some other kind of treatment.
