It’s the first meal of the day and they say one must eat breakfast like a king! We took it seriously and set out in the morning for some of the best breakfast platters in town. Here’s what made us go #Yay!
HEARTY PLATTERS
Joey’s Breakfast Platter at Wise Owl: Making its way back into the menu at the Purna Das Road cafe is Joey’s Breakfast Platter, which is loaded with two fried eggs, two chicken sausages, bacon, ham, baked beans and sauteed veggies, along with toast and French fries (Rs 315-plus). You can also try Cheese and Bacon Omelette, or Pancakes with chocolate syrup. Timings: 7.30am to 11.30am.
English Breakfast Platter (Pork) at The Whistling Kettle: This one’s the breakfast to pig out on, quite literally. Part of a whole new Winter Breakfast menu at the Golpark cafe, the English Breakfast Platter (Pork) is a treat consisting of pork sausages, bacon, eggs, mashed potatoes, baked beans, grilled tomato and toast for Rs 399-plus. Other exciting items to try from the new menu are French Toast topped with Ham, and Meat and Cheese Wrap. Timings: 9am to noon.
Non-veg Breakfast Board at Afraa Deli, The Conclave: This one’s totally #InstagramWorthy and packs variety too. The wooden board at the AJC Bose Road address comes with Eggs Florentine, chicken sausages, chicken ham, Mozzarella Cherry Tomato Basil, garlic toast, sauteed mushrooms and chilli cheese toast with juice and tea or coffee (Rs 299-plus). Timings: 9am to 1pm.
Buffet Breakfast Menu at Cocoa Bakery: Go easy with your Saturday dinner if you plan to dive into this humongous all-you-can-eat platter on Sunday at the New Alipore bakery-cum-cafe. It consists of eggs of your choice, chicken sausages, mayonnaise sandwiches, beans on toast, hash browns, assorted pastries, doughnuts, croissants, assorted breads, cereal with milk, muffins and banana-walnut or lemon cake slices (Rs 375-plus). Sip juice, tea or coffee with it. Other breakfast options are available for the rest of the days; try their Mushroom Omelette and Choco Banana Crepe. Timings: 8.30am to noon.
WHERE ANY TIME IS BREAKFAST TIME!
Meat Platter at Abar Baithak: If you are a moderate eater, this Jodhpur Park cafe has just the right breakfast option for you. The Meat Platter (Rs 220-plus) has two pieces of chicken sausages, chicken salami, ham, bacon, a fried egg and cheese toast. Timings: 9am to 10pm.
English Breakfast Platter at The Country House: Nestled in the quiet Allenby Road, this cafe is for those who want to have their breakfast in peace, maybe with just a book for company. The English Breakfast Platter (Rs 300-plus) is a combo of two eggs, chicken sausages, chicken salami, mashed potato and grilled tomato with butter and toast. Want something simple? Go for the French Benedict, or Eggless Choco Chip Pancake. Timings: 8am to 11pm.
Full English Breakfast at Mrs. Magpie: Start your morning at Mrs. Magpie (Keyatala and Salt Lake, Sector I) with the Full English Breakfast. By the time you polish off two eggs (fried or scrambled), four chicken sausages, grilled tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms and baked beans with two slices of toast and beverage of your choice (coffee/tea/freshly- pressed juice), you will really be full! (Rs 495-plus) Add some bacon for an extra Rs 40.

American Breakfast at Raj’s Spanish Cafe: Bustling with foreign tourists through the day, this Sudder Street landmark serves a neat American Breakfast platter of two eggs made your way, two chicken sausages and hash browns, two pieces of toast with butter or jam, and fresh-pressed juice of the day. All for Rs 250!
