Margao: Ranty Martins scored once in each half to guide Dempo SC to the pre-quarter finals of the AFC Cup with a convincing 3-1 win over Al Faisaly at the Nehru Stadium here Tuesday.

For the winners, Martins (1st, 53rd) and Roberto D’Silva (66th) found the back of the net while Moayad Abukeshek scored in the 35th minute to reduce the margin for the visitors.

Dempo who finished their league engagements at second with 10 points became the second team to enter the pre-quarter finals from group E.

Al Maged who are leading the table on 10 points were the first team to qualify for the knock-out stage.

Dempo’s coach Armando Colaco was happy with his team’s performance but hinted that fatigue may be a concern for his side in the next outing.

Dempo who needed an outright win to enter the knock-out stage secured an early lead in the first minute when Clifford Miranda played a diagonal pass for an unmarked Martins who did not fail to find the net. (PTI)
