Calcutta: Pailan Arrows and Pune FC were both left ruing missed opportunities, as the 12th round of the I-League encounter ended in a tame 1-1 draw at the Salt Lake Stadium, on Thursday.

Arrows opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the first half, when Pune FC goalkeeper, Abhra Mondal, failed to clear a Bijendra Rai free kick from the left flank. Jibon Singh obliged by scoring on the rebound. The goal provided the city team impetus to play a more attacking game.

The visitors managed to get an equaliser in the 42nd minute, when Lester Fernandez’s pass from the centre of the park was smartly received by Keita Mandjou, who ran around Arrows’ defender Gurtej Singh (Sr.), to score.

The goal seemed to rejuvenate the visitors. They were miserly with the ball and accurate with their passes but the finishing touch was lacking. Keita and Jeje Lalpekhlua kept attacking but the Arrows custodian Naveen Kumar stood tall. The draw leaves Arrows on seven points from 12 games while Pune FC are on 19 from the same number of games.
