Three picked up for assault on employee in Silchar

A manhunt is on to catch all those involved in the incident, the source added

Police picked up three persons from Kathal Road (Chandrapur area) here on Thursday night in connection with an assault on an employee of a local Bengali daily.

The employee Suman Sin-ha, 22, works with Dainik Prantojyoti as a technical staff and is a resident of Bhagatpur.

According to the FIR lodged with Silchar sadar police station on Thursday night, he was beaten up by a group of unidentified people at Kathal Road around 9:40pm when he was on his way back to office after dropping another employee in that area.

Sinha, who has been carrying out the duty of picking up and dropping the employees in a office vehicle for the past few days because of shortage of staff, somehow fled the spot with the vehicle and reached office. The matter was later informed to the police.

Sinha, along with a few reporters of the office reached Silchar Sadar police station and lodged an FIR. Thereafter, he was taken to Satindra Moh-an Dev Civil Hospital and then to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. From the hospital, he was taken to the office whe-re he spent the night, sources said.

A source in police said three persons were picked up by the police from the area where the incident took place.
