IIM Calcutta has launched a one-year executive programme in healthcare management, a course that the institute said is more relevant now because of the ongoing pandemic.
The online programme starts September 5. Classes will be conducted every Sunday.
Rajesh Bhattacharya, the programme director at IIM Calcutta, said: “There is a requirement to combine domain knowledge in the field of medical science with managerial expertise in designing effective organisations, understanding healthcare systems from a comparative context, leadership, conflict negotiation, supply chains, logistics, and communication. The pandemic has underscored the need for more effective design and management of health systems.”
The course will include epidemic and disaster management.
The programme is open for healthcare professionals across sectors including doctors, hospital administrators, professionals from medical and allied sectors such as pharmaceuticals, medical insurance and healthcare entrepreneurs.
Medical practitioners and administrators with MBBS/ BDS/BAMS or equivalent degrees recognised by UGC/ AICTE/MCI or their equivalent and students with biotechnology and biomedical backgrounds (bachelor’s degree or above) are eligible.
The one-year programme will be offered through a blended learning format of online classes and a 10-day campus visit.
