Justice Rajasekhar Mantha of the Calcutta High Court on Friday issued an order allowing candidates seeking jobs in primary schools to continue their sit-in during Durga Puja. Kolkata police had issued a notice saying no demonstration would be allowed on the city’s roads during this period.

Challenging the notification, the agitating candidates had moved the high court. Their counsel said the selection process for appointing teachers in South 24-Parganas schools had not started yet. So his clients have decided to continue their movement through the Puja. While allowing the petition moved by the candidates, Justice Mantha held that an agitation by job seekers should not be prevented by court. The judge asked the agitators to talk to the police to decide on the venue of their protest.

HS question tweak

The state higher secondary council has announced that there will be no part-wise break-up in next year’s HS questions. A council official said there will be a single question paper and a single answer script for all subjects. All multiple-choice questions will be clubbed under question No. 1 and all short-answer type questions will be clubbed under question No. 2, irrespective of parts or topics, he said.

The descriptive questions will start from question No. 3. Space will be provided in the answer scripts for MCQ and SAQ questions.

Personality test

The West Bengal School Service Commission has announced that the personality test for candidates who wrote the first SLST (state level selection test), 2016, for recruitment as assistant teachers (upper primary level) who have been allowed by Calcutta High Court will start in the third week of October 2022.

The notice says eligible candidates can download the intimation letter for the test from the commission’s website www.westbengalssc.com.
