Jamshedpur, Aug. 28: The non-teaching staff in the Ranchi University can look forward to a new pay scale soon. Based on the details from various constituent colleges, the varsity is preparing a list of non-teaching staff who would be brought under the purview of the new pay scale.
Finance officer of Ranchi University Susheel Kumar Prasad said there are about 3,000 non-teaching staff working in various constituent colleges who would be entitled for the new pay scale.
“We have asked the colleges to send us the list of non-teaching staff by August 31. After compiling the list received from all the constituent units, the university would send it to the state human resource development department for necessary action,” said Prasad.
University sources said majority of the constituent colleges had already sent the list along with the present salary structure, while the rest are expected to submit it by August 31.The salary structure of the non-teaching staff has not been revised since 1996.
The state government, however, has not stated clearly when the new pay scale shall be implemented.
University officials revealed that once the new pay scale is implemented, non-teaching staff would get a hike of a minimum of Rs 7,000 in their monthly salary.
At present, the non-teaching staff in grade III including sectional officers, clerk, laboratory in-charge, accountants, steno-typist and storekeepers draw a monthly salary of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000.
Employees in grade IV including peons, sweepers, chowkidars and lab boys would be entitled to a hike of minimum Rs 4,000 monthly.
