Major flooding due to torrential downpour has lead to disruption in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, with officials declaring a state of emergency. The flash floods have caused hazardous driving conditions, flooded residential areas forcing evacuations and the city's airport to close, with all flights cancelled
Flooding at the Auckland airport led to flights cancellations at several terminals at the city's airport, which is the largest in New Zealand. Runways and terminals were filled with ankle-deep water.

Three people have died and at least one person is missing as a result of torrential rain that has caused major flooding, according to media reports. Search and rescue teams reported that they responded to more than 400 emergency calls made about the weather.
Amid the chaos, a concert to be given by British star Elton John at the city's Mount Smart Stadium was called off shortly before it was to begin. Organizers said the cancellation was caused by the unsafe weather conditions.
