Design labels hold pop-up show to help Kerala weavers

Multi-designer fashion store Kalon organised a pop-up featuring sustainable designers Aavaran Udaipur, Nakita Singh, Tahweave, The Pot Plant and The Third Floor Clothing

With a cause at its heart, multi-designer fashion store Kalon has organised a pop-up featuring the works of sustainable designers Aavaran Udaipur, Nakita Singh, Tahweave, The Pot Plant and The Third Floor Clothing. Each label has donated an ensemble from their latest collection, which have been worn by celebrities; the clothes will be auctioned at a starting price of Rs 1,500, the proceeds from which will go to Save The Loom to help the weavers of Chendamangalam, a weaving community in Kerala that is affected by the recent floods.

“After we came back from our showing at the Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive ’18, we wanted to assimilate and show a few here at Kalon and were happy to have these designers on board to help Save The Loom by donating one of their celebrity-worn ensembles,” said Sweta Tantia and Priyangsu Maji, the duo behind Kalon.

On till: September 23, 11am to 6pm 

Tolly actresses Parno Mittra and Sauraseni Maitra dropped by at the store to try out their fave picks.  

She also picked an embroidered Nakita Singh bomber jacket in moss green as her other fave. “This pop-up has such amazing clothes and the fact that it’s for a good cause makes it even better,” she added.

She also chose a layered Tahweave ensemble — a tiered jamdani long dress and an organza-wool bomber jacket. “I think the cause behind the pop-up is wonderful and this is the least we could do,” she added.
