I am a 60-year-old woman with psoriasis. This season my skin has become very itchy and the ugly grey scales have made an appearance on my hands and elbows. I just cannot wear short sleeves and the skin between my fingers feels terribly itchy. I cannot even go for a manicure. Please suggest some natural remedy to tackle this.

Anindita

Unfortunately, psoriasis can be very uncomfortable. There are various natural remedies to soothe this, one being the use of oatmeal. Take 2 tbs rolled oats and mix with cold milk and apply to the area. The consistency should be thick and smooth. Leave on the area for 15 to 20 minutes and wash off with water.

Besides this, sea salt is very effective too. You can either soak in a tub to which you have added 2 to 3 tbs of sea salt. Alternatively, you can mix 50g sea salt and 200ml sesame seed oil and gently apply to the area. Ensure that the sea salt should be well pounded to a fine powder.
Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the area as this will help reduce the itching and allow the scaliness to heal.

I am a 31-year-old woman with oily skin. Of late, I have been very stressed and my face has become puffy. I look old too. I am very worried. Please suggest something for me.

Wash your face with a paste made of 2 tsp Fuller’s earth to which you have added 1 tsp of rose water, 1 tsp of mint paste and a pinch of camphor. Mix a little water to make a smooth paste and massage this all over the skin daily. Not only will it take care of the oiliness but also give a fresh look on to the skin.

As for the puffiness, check with your local doctor for blood pressure or water retention and, above all, try and reduce your stress!

I am a 26-year-old woman who is recovering from jaundice. I used to have a glowing complexion. My skin looks dull and terrible now after the disease. Please suggest something for me.

Aditi

Eat healthy and consume lots of fruits and salads. Massage your skin with lemon and honey daily. Also, you can make a fruit mask with 1 tsp papaya, 1 tsp mashed banana, 1 tsp almond paste and 1 tsp cucumber. Mix all the ingredients and apply like a mask-cum-scrub on alternate days to get back that natural glow.

I have extremely oily skin which tends to accumulate dirt throughout the day. That’s why I make sure that I keep it clean and oil-free at all times. I use fruits like papaya and banana to clean my face. It helps me keep it nourished and soft in every season. I keep wet-wipes with me all the time and keep using them when I travel. For my hair I use a pack made of eggs, honey and curd. It’s an excellent hair softener and keeps my hair healthy and shining. This apart, I drink lots of water to keep myself hydrated. I am an avid fan of Yoga and for me it is the cure to every trouble.
