Krakatoa, a 26-seater restaurant in Behala, is the latest food stop in the city to serve a range of Southeast Asian delicacies. “Krakatoa is an Indonesian volcano, hence the tagline — an eruption of Asian flavours. We have street food from Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, among other countries, and we are trying to keep it as authentic as possible,” said . Chiraag Paul, owner, Krakatoa.
We loved Tom Kha Gai, a coconut milk-based soup from Thailand. Rich and creamy, it comes with mushrooms, vegetables and a protein of choice. Rs 175 for veg, Rs 225 for chicken, Rs 245 for pork and Rs 235 for shrimp.
Made with vegetables and a meat of choice, Lumpiang Sariwa, a Filipino version of spring rolls, is a good option if you are looking for a quick yet filling bite. Rs 155 for veg, Rs 185 for chicken and Rs 195 for pork.
An omelette with a twist. Tortang Talong, a Filipino dish made with egg, vegetables and a choice of chicken, pork or lamb, is simple and flavoursome. As you cut through it, a surprise awaits you in the form of a roasted brinjal! Rs 125 for egg, Rs 155 for chicken, Rs 195 for pork and
Rs 225 for lamb.
Khau Suey, the classic Burmese dish, has a thick gravy and a variety of condiments. The chicken version of the dish costs Rs 250, while the seafood version is priced Rs 300.
