Calcutta, Sept. 13: Horasis Asia Meeting - the global business conference being organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce and co-hosted by the Bengal government on November 26-27 in Calcutta - is going to witness an assembly of 300 participants from Asia, Europe and the US.

The two-day conference, with a special focus on the state and Calcutta as the gateway to south-east Asia, is going to attract some top corporate honchos from India and Japan, Thailand, Myanmar and Indonesia.

"Chief minister Mamata Banerjee will address a special session highlighting the prospects of the state," Frank-Jürgen Richter, chairman of Horasis, said.

Richter met Banerjee and finance minister Amit Mitra today to apprise them of the event that may also be attended by a few Union ministers.

Shashwat Goenka, president of the ICC, said this was the first time a Horasis event would take place in India. "A large delegation from Japan is expected," he said.
