Lax OCs shifted in Giridih

Ranchi: June 5: Officers-in-charge of nine thanas in Giridih have been transferred in one go, apparently to discipline the police force in the district where law and order deteriorated while rebel activities shot up in recent times.

Though five of the nine OCs have been promoted as inspector, Giridih SP Akhilesh B. Varier maintained that the transfers were effected to improve policing and send across a strong message to lax officers. "Their replacements had become imperative for ensuring better law and order and good policing," Varier added.

Virender Prasad has taken over as the new Town OC, replacing Rajiv Kumar who has been sent to Gawan thana. Bagodar OC Surendra Singh will be the new Mufassil OC and Gawan OC Srinivas Kumar will replace Singh in Bagodar. The OCs of Ahilyapur, Gandey, Bhelwaghati, Birni and Khukra have also been transferred.

Palamau SP M.K. Pandey has transferred seven OCs in his district.
