Jharkhand Green clinched the women's under-19 JSCA Trophy by defeating Jharkhand Red by 57 runs on the concluding day of the tournament at Birsa Munda Cricket Stadium in Chaibasa on Thursday.
Green secured 12 points from the tournament, while Red managed 8. Handy knocks by Woman of the Match Sonia Kumari (57) and skipper Rashmi Gudia (46) helped Jharkhand Green score 154/4 (in 40 overs) after electing to bat first.
Gunja Kumari and Priyanka Chouhan chipped in with 13 (not out) and 12 runs, respectively.
Sonia and Rashmi played with lot of resolve and batted intelligently to inch the total. Ahswani Kumari and Anjali Das claimed one wicket each for the Red warriors. In reply, Jharkhand Red were shot out for a paltry 97 (21.3 overs), thanks to a combined effort of the bowlers from the opposition.
Barring Surbhi Kumar, who top scored with 25, others failed to contribute much with the bat.
Subeksha Mondal led the bowling attack by bagging 3 wickets and was complimented well by Mamta Paswan and Jaya Kumari, who picked up 2 wickets each. Priyanka Chouhan and Meera Kumari Mahto claimed one wicket each.
The winners trophy was presented by West Singhbhum District Cricket Association secretary Aseem Kumar Singh.
