Year-end noise alert for cops

The state pollution control board has written to senior police officers asking them to ensure that noise norms are not violated during midnight celebrations to usher in New Year.

"The state board on Monday issued letters to all senior police officers in the state, including the director general of police and the city's police commissioner, stating that there should be no loudspeaker use or bursting of crackers violating noise norms during the New Year Eve celebrations," Kalyan Rudra, chairman of the board, said on Tuesday.
