Boy hurls bomb in love triangle

Police detained a 16-year-old boy on Tuesday morning on the charge of hurling a bomb near Jagaddal station in North 24-Parganas. Two crude bombs were found in his bag. The student of Class VIII had bought three bombs from a man in Shyamnagar, the police said. Residents alerted the police after the bomb exploded. The student was trying to scare a girl and a boy of his school. It's a case of love triangle, the police said.

Youths attacked

Goons attacked two men in Baguiati on Monday night for filing a public interest litigation against illegal activities in bars on VIP Road. Rajib Sarkar and his friend Rajat Muhuri have been admitted to hospital. According to the complaint lodged by the duo, four men attacked them while they were on their way home around 11pm. After Muhuri had filed the PIL in Calcutta High Court, police conducted raids and arrested several women and bar owners.

Woman killed

A 21-year-old woman died and four others were injured after a truck hit the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in on Baoali Road in Taratala around 6.30pm on Tuesday. The victim, Riya Barui, was a resident of Baoali in Nodakhali. The injured are being treated at hospital. The truck driver has been arrested.

Bodies found

The decomposed bodies of two women who had fallen off a Babughat-Howrah launch into the Hooghly on July 17 were found nearly 60km away in Roopnarayan near Howrah's Gadiara on Monday. They have been identified as Sital Agarwal of Asansol and Moumita Ghosh of Shibpur, Howrah.
