Sarla Birla named Best School

Guwahati, Sept. 1: Hosts Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti (SBGJ) were adjudged the Best School while South Point School finished runners-up based on the total score of the top four players from each school in the second SBGJ All-Assam Inter-school Chess Championship that concluded at Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti here on Saturday evening, the results of which were declared today.

Nitish Das of City Faculty School emerged the queen group (Class IX to XII) with a total of 5.5 points from seven rounds. Amlan Mahanta of Kendriya Vidyalaya, IOC also tallied 5.5 points but finished second on the basis of tiebreak scores. Bidisha Borthakur of Kendriya Vidyalay, Khanapara was named the Best Girl in the category.
