Charmie claims twin titles

Imphal, Aug 31: Charmie N. claimed twin titles winning the under-12 and under-10 girls’ titles of the 13th Governor’s Trophy Junior Tennis Championship at Officers’ Club, Lamphelpat.

Charmie, playing her final match of the under-12 category, outplayed Katajilu Golmei 6-0, 6-4 to clinch the champion’s title.

Later, she went on to win the under-10 girls’ category, beating Y. Agu Devi by a convincing score of 4-0, 4-0.

In the under-10 boys’ category, Bhusan Haobam claimed the champion’s title defeating Mahesh Aribam 4-2, 5-3.

In the under-14 boys’ final, L. Luching had a relatively easy game as he outplayed Musha M.M. 6-3, 6-2 for the champion’s title.

Weight-lifiting: Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union finished with five gold medals in the 17th sub-junior, 18th junior and 19th senior State Weightlifting Championship which concluded at SAG indoor hall, Khuman Lampak.

In the last day’s action, Tiddim Road lifter L. Paikhomba claimed gold in the senior men’s 56kg category with 80kg in snatch and 113kg in clean and jerk while M. Ajoy Singh of SAI, Imphal fetched the silver with 95kg in snatch and 105kg in clean and jerk.
