Ganga eclipse Sunrise 3-1

Guwahati, Aug. 24: Ganga Sports Club rode on Elkana Rosangzela’s hattrick to register a convincing 3-1 victory over Sunrise Athletic Club in their match of the RG Baruah Guwahati Sports Association Super Division Football League at ground one of Nehru Stadium here today.

With this win, debutants Ganga Sports Club registered their first win in their four matches so far while Sunrise Athletic Club still awaits a victory. With three defeats and a win, Ganga Sports Club stands with three points while Sunrise has managed two points so far in their four matches.

Ganga custodian Munshi Saifuddin did some fabulous work denying Sunrise two genuine chances of breaking the deadlock.

On being awarded with a free kick, David Hmingthanga’s set piece took the aerial curve only to find Rosangzela whose flick of the head ensured the first goal for his side.

In the second halfRosangzela, making his way from the midfield, dribbled past three Sunrise defenders before providing the perfect finishing touch to find the back of the net in the 54th minute.

In the 57th minute, Raphael Lalchhanchhuaha fine thorough pass was well utilised by Rosangzela to ensure his hattrick.

Sunrise’s Ifyenci Chenchor took full advantage of a Ganga’s defence lapse to score in the 87th minute.

In the Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League at ground two, Gauhati Town Club registered a 5-1 victory over Kamrupa Football Club to make it to the top of the tally.
